How do you enable 18+ content on Telegram?

Telegram hides some channels and media marked as sensitive. On Android and desktop you can turn on 'Show sensitive content' (or 'Disable filtering') in Settings, Privacy and Security. On iPhone the switch is usually missing because of App Store rules, so people change it from the web version at web.telegram.org or from a desktop app, and the setting syncs to the account. Private chats with a creator are not affected by this filter.

What the filter actually does

Telegram lets channel owners and Telegram's own moderation mark content as sensitive. When the filter is on, those public channels and some media show a warning or are hidden from search. The filter applies to public content, not to the direct messages you exchange with a person.

If a creator's channel seems empty or you see 'This channel can't be displayed', the filter is often the reason.

Android

Open Settings, then Privacy and Security. Scroll to Sensitive content and turn on Show sensitive content (the label can be Disable filtering on older versions). The change applies to your account on every device.

Desktop (Windows, macOS, Linux)

Open Settings, Privacy and Security, and look for Sensitive content or Show sensitive content. Turn it on. Some builds show the option only after you open a filtered channel once.

iPhone and iPad

The App Store version of Telegram hides this switch in most countries. The usual workaround is to sign in on web.telegram.org (or the desktop app) and turn the setting on there; because it is stored on your account, the iPhone app follows. Telegram changes this behaviour from time to time, so check Telegram's current help pages if the option has moved.

You do not need the filter to chat with a creator

A creator's personal account is a normal private conversation. Nothing is hidden by the sensitive content filter there. On TeleSearch, Open Telegram takes you straight to the personal account, so the filter is irrelevant for messaging.

Questions

Is enabling sensitive content allowed?

Yes, it is a built-in Telegram setting for adults. You must be 18 or older, and you remain bound by Telegram's terms and your local law.

Why is the option missing on my iPhone?

Apple's App Store rules. Change it from web.telegram.org or a desktop app; the setting is tied to your account.

Does the filter hide private messages?

No. It applies to public channels and some media, not to a one-to-one chat.
